Rome - Vatican

Our destination today was the Vatican.  This was a must see for Rome but not really a highlight for kids.  They were good but didn’t quite appreciate the significance.  No photos were allowed of the Sistine Chapel (frescoed by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512).  Throughout the complex we reminded the kids that this was a religious place and that they should behave the same way they would in church.  This worked until we saw the café in the basement which Jason pointed out that he had never seen in a church.

After we left the Vatican we walked to the river to check out the view.

For dinner again we grabbed takeout from the bar at the end of the street.  And again it was wonderful.
